I've got a wind up pocket watch, and i'm not sure how much i should wind it up, i don't want to over wind it and break it, is there some sort of industry standard, or does it vary from maker to maker?

cheers,

I know Breitling suggest 40 turns / twists when starting a 'dead' one of theirs... Personally I tighten my hand wound until I feel slight resistance.

Not too sure about the other manufacturers...

My Breitling Wings automatic states 40 turns and goes tight after about 45.

My Zenith manual wind is tight after about 30 turns from dead. I am assured that it is OK to wind until tight.

All of mine are manual.
Wind it until you feel the resistance, then stop. Never had any problems.
