Can I have some help please?? I've just cashed in my trusty clubcard vouchers! For £400 worth of goldsmith vouchers. I intend to buy myself a nice watch with the proceeds.

I am thinking I will add up to £300 to the vouchers so I have a total of £700 to spend ish (will put more if really needed or less) At this price range am I best just buying what I like? Would ideally like a 2nd hand classic tag or something a bit more discreet.

Looking on the website ideas so far are:

default choice tag heur F1
http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product.asp?cid=1&...

TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chrono Indy 500 Limited Edition
http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product.asp?cid=1&...

or a bit of an outsider.
http://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/product.asp?cid=1&...

i will obvioulsy go and try a few on and see which sits on my wrist best. But is there anything I should know.

Thanks

Don1

What about having a look at the Breil range.

I wouldn't bother with the TAG chav gear. Oris make some nice watches in that price range.

I don't fancy either of the Tags, though in truth they don't seem to make many that appeal to me. The Lacroix is mechanical, though again not really to my taste.

Don1's first suggestion looks good, though he could have help a those of us with poor eyesight a little trouble with some links! I think this is Don1's second:

Are you keen to buy new ? I know I was with my first watch in that price range (I got a Lacroix quartz). If I was doing it again, I might be tempted to go second hand automatic.

ETA - this might be Don1's 1st:

Unfortunately due to me using clubcard vouchers I think I have to buy new, unless goldsmiths sell second hand watches? If they do, i'd have no problem buying second hand. I'd prefer it to be honest.

Thanks for the thoughts so far people, will look at more than a few now! Yeah not sure about the Tag, they are a bit 'bling' for my liking, would ideally love a carrera but out of my price range for the time being.

Anyone know if goldsmiths sell second hand watches? or more importantly if I can use vouchers. (I will ask this wknd hopefully)

I've got a feeling they do sell used watches, but not 100% sure. Well worth checking out for sure. A used Omega Speedmaster auto would be my first choice in that case.

I agree with the Oris suggestions, much more subtle and elegant than Tag IMO.

You should be able to get an Oris Artelier Chronograph on a strap in that price range.

if your looking 2nd hand you may get an Omega Seamaster for your budget. Otherwise look at the Oris Range like people have said.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I bought a second hand omega speedmaster on Wednesday. Stainless Steel bracelet and a silver face.

Lovely Watch, managed to get it under budget as Gooldmsiths have just started selling pre-owned watches.
