In Singapore, just tried on a lovely Breitling Blackbird, Steel Bracelet. £2400 so a good saving, but the Missus is having none of it.

Bloody cow.

God man are you a man or a mouse, I would NEVER let my wife dictate to me what I spent and what I spent it on, same as I doubt she would if I was to try and do it to her

Do this and after you've bought it you can explain you had no choice!

You'd only resent her if you didn't buy it, so you've had to buy it for the sake of your marriage.

Just remember this tuffer:

Buy two and say they were in a sale - she'll understand that 'logic'.

There you go, you should have bought it on the QT, waited until it was noticed and said "oh this old thing? I've had it for ages!"

Woohoo, looks like I have another trip to Singapore coming up so this time I am shopping, only problem now is I may be changing my mind. So, if you had a choice between a Breitling Blackbird and a Panerai Luminor Power reserve which would get the vote and what are the merits of each one. Yes I will try them both on and yes it's personal taste but are there any specific reasons why one may be a better buy?

In fact seeing them side by side my mind may already be made up!!

Personally.... I have a Breitling. And I'd love a Panerai - purely because it seems a beter class of watch (guess which one is in Goldsmiths window, the other in something higher class).

Breitling is vomit

Panerai looks more classy, but not really my thing either.

PH humour is awesome, putting Panerai and class into the same sentence - magnificent

I did say 'it seems'... What makes it worse, is I saw a JLC display go up today in a Goldsmiths window in the wharf.

I'm giving up...... now!

Yeah have to agree, nothing classy about that.......just solid engineering.....Which is what I want from a watch.
