Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to this forum, and the enthusiasm you all have for watches is infectious. I read the post by the chap who has just bought 2 automatic watches for his kids and I am now looking for an everyday replacement for my trusty Tag F1 which I've had for 16 years but now needs repairing.
These two have caught my eye as they have a nice classic look. However I am struggling to see the difference between them appart from a 3mm difference in bezel size. Is that really it, or am I missing something?
They seem very good value to me too, would you agree?

Also, do you know if they are black or blue?

Nope they are the same watch, just a styling difference. They made lots of different editions of that watch, and there are guys who will swap bits around on them to customise them for you (e.g. bezel from one model, face from another). Good watches for the price, which is very cheap.

They are quite an old design though, if you want to spend a bit more the new seiko 200m automatic divers have a better movement with hacking etc.

You can get these new ones for £200 if you look.

Thanks for your reply. So the only difference is a slightly smaller bezel? OK, thanks for that.
The other one you linked too is very handsome, but more than twice the price. What do you mean by hacking?

You may also want to consider the SKX007 with a black bezel. Can be had from the 'bay for around £80.

Hacking is a watches ability to stop the second hand when timing it.

Hacking is when the second hand stops when you pull out the crown to adjust the time.

Without it you can't really set it totally accurately

Ah, OK. I thought all watches did that!

This guy http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Seiko-Watches-Richwatches... sells Seiko automatics very cheap. I haven't bought one from him (yet) but he has very good feedback.

Cheers. I saw his stuff on ebay last night too. Have decided to play safe and buy through cronograph.com.
