Advice for a watch noob.
Discussion
Hi everybody
I'm looking for a watch for £400 or less, and what I don't know about watches is almost astounding. Ideally I'd like an Omega Seamaster or Speedmaster, but that plainly isn't going to happen for £400. I've been looking at a Seiko Le Grand Sport Retrograde, I like it a lot, but I'm not sure I like it enough.
So, do any of you wonderful people have any suggestions along those lines?

If you like the Omega, why not consider a previously owned piece? Have a look on the for sale section on websites such as
www.timezone.com
Have a good look on eBay, you can find some good examples on there. Do your homework, know what you're buying and ask all the right questions. Ideally, meet the seller at an Omega jeweller to have the watch verified, if you're not familiar with the watch.
Have a look at this a nice Seamaster ( I think it was c£1500 when new) from a decent seller at your budget. Ebay item number 320172710368, you'll need to get your skates on though...
Good luck,
Dom.

Seiko is a good start, but dont get a Grand Sport. They aren't the best the brand has to offer. The Grand Sport is quartz, but you can get a very nice automatic for that money.
The UK-spec Premier Automatics are good:

And you can get a very good Seiko Divers as well:

I would also look at german watches. Same basic movements as the swiss, but without the mark-up. Check out Sinn, and Ollech & Wajs.
