I quite fancy one of these, or the 'petrolhead' wheel watch but does anyone have an idea of the quality of the movement therein ?
Love the silly toolkit that comes with it, appeals to lovers of old machines like myself.....

I have been looking for one on the second-hand market for ages with no luck. They seem very rare.

As for quality, I assume Dunhill use ETA movements, these are very good 'ebauche' movements that are found in IWCs, Breitlings and other high-end brands. However, IWC etc. make large and expensive alterations to the ETA base movements, something I doubt Dunhill do. The ETA movement will be reliable and tough.

In short, I think the Car Watch is over-priced, but it is also very desirable and rare, the movement is more than adequate, the decision should come down to justifying the cost for design and exclusivity.

Right I am off to look for one myself...

Lads, have a look on eBay for a seller called 'jonnyandco'. He always has a selection of new Dunhills at quite bonkers discounts.....Worth a look.

I have a Dunhill carwatch, the ceramic one with the black strap and brown face #313/1000, it did have to go back under warranty after 6 months with a problem with the movement, but since then it's been great. I love it. It comes in a nice case as well, a piston style shaped tube with the leather / cloth holder inside which holds the toolkit, and the spare number plate (blank so you can engrave it as you wish)

Reading the collection 06/07 catalogue, the carwatch uses an ETA movement automatic mechanical, Calibre ETA2671.

The petrolhead wheelwatch lists the movement only as automatic mechanical with power reserve and date, Calibre DD7000

The Bobby Finder SP30 is gorgeous as well!

Hi all,

I saw one of the Dunhill car watches on this website when I was looking through.

http://www.watches.co.uk

I'm not sure if it's the one you're after.

Cheers,

Neil
