well, so far so good. Emailed me a jpg of the shipping paperwork with a tracking number. Seikos will be with me in 10-14 days.

Daughter is 12 and son 10 next birthday - I think a good quality, but sensible priced automatic is a great way to introduce them to the world of 'proper' mechanical watches and get them away from quartz or digital rubbish.

completely agree. I remember getting my first "grown up" watch for my 13th (a Seiko funnily enough. I've been working on this for a while and he already sees me as a "watch nut" so perhaps this will be the start of something. I ordered a Seiko divers watch from RLT. [pic]completely agree. Incidentally, glad to see my 100th post was in the watch forum!

My son's 13th is also in a couple of week, but he didn't trust himself with an automatic (he's always taking it on and off and dropping it and stuff) so wanted a quartz instead. He chose it himself -

Well, 11 day later the watches arrived as promised. Brilliant service from chronograpgh.com. The certificate of guarantees are filled out, package was insurecd and best of all, no customs duty to pay.

What a bargain.

Edited to add - I still cannot believe I have two brand new, automatic movement watches which are both waterproof for £65 each. Kids will love it and, hopefully, will appreciate the wonders of cogs, wheels and springs.

It was my son's birthday on Monday so he finally got his hands on the one above. Cos he'd been snooping round my emails I thought I would trick him and give him an old cheapo Lorus Quartz I had from when my Breitling went in for a service.

It back fired and he loved it. So then I had to give him the real one.

So far I've sussed the best thing he and his mates like is the chronograph reset rolleyes

I suppose the novelty will wear off eventually and the fact that its actually very nice looking piece will be appreciated more.

No its indistinguishable from the first model, just a slightly revised face.

Sorry to hijack thread again. I ordered a watch through chronograph.com, and now have Royal Mail card through the door saying that i have to pay £17. I have emailed the supplier who advises this is likely to be customs charges. Is this right. I read that johnfm didn't have to pay any, so why have I? Just unlucky? Am a bit miffed as that equates to 23% of the cost of the watch.

It's a lottery with Royal Mail/Customs .... you win some, you loose some

Unlucky Gavstar - it is just luck of the draw. I got hit with customs duty on some perfume for the wife a while back. The annoying thing is that of the £17, only about £7 will be duty. THe rest will be a 'royal mail handling charges'.

can you not have the items marked "Gift" like the hong kong dealers to on FleaBay ??

I was under the impression if it was marked as a gift they likelyhood of customers charges were nil.
