BHI OPEN DAY SUNDAY 28th OCTOBER
Discussion
The British Horological Institute is hosting an open day this Sunday at it's headquarters at UPTON HALL near SOUTHWELL, Nottinghamshire.
Informative guided tours are normally available, showing examples of timepieces through the ages, from wooden foliot balance clocks up to Atomic clocks and everything in between. They have examples of SHORTT free pendulum clocks that are accurate to a hundredth of a second a day,not bad for a mechanical device.
You can take your watches for appraisal by their experts. They can instantly measure the accuracy of your watch and issue a certificate.
The building is interesting in itself and has a fascinating history.
There are at least two ghosts in residence, apparently.
