No papers, needa a new strap? Hmm, have it verified and take advice. I'd imagine not an easy watch to sell on.

double yes on having it checked.

You would be stunned at just how convincing a "homage" can be these days. I PP dealer will be able to varify the numbers right away and give you an accurate price (Not an official replacement strap on it's own will in all probability cost 3 figures)

If i were in the market for such a watch - which I'm not - the absolute minumum I would expect is a cast iron (well letterhead anyway) certification from a PP authorised dealer as to its originality. Though to be honest I don't think I'd consider it without box and papers, however, you may be able to replace some of these at an AD.

(Apologies if your friend is a PP AD and you already have this).

Call Rhone Products Ltd, they are the UK PP distributor;
Rhone Products (U K) Ltd.

Address: PO BOX 860
Gerrards Cross
Buckinghamshire
SL9 7SB

Telephone: 01753-891348

IIRC, it is possible to have the watch verified, and an 'Archive extract' document provided by PP. Call the above to confirm, I'm a little rusty on the procedure.

What's it worth? Hmmm, it really is not the most popular (demand=£££££ ) PP about. The Golden Ellipse was always had work, and the Diamonds do not really help. You might find that it drops about the same as a '99 E55....

Why no papers/box? Anybody buying one of these would have a couple of watches so it wouldnt get used everyday (I imagine) - so why wasnt it kept with its papers/box? Anyone who had a winder would know enough to keep the papers/box. Is there a receipt or is it registered anywhere? Could it be stolen?

I'd suggest it would have lost 50% or more as a trade value without the box/papers and anyone buying would want it complete - it isnt exactly a budget purchase is it?
