I've currently got the Tag Heuer Mercedes Benz SLR watch, the limited edition one.
I realise it's not an old classic but having read this forum with interest, I would like to change it for an older watch such as an original Tag Monaco or a breitling/rolex......
What should I be able to get for it cash so I can then make an offer on one of the older appreciating watches (and more appreciated by this forum of course!)..........
I'd also be happy to swap it as well if anyone was interested.....

Cash value from a dealer should be around £1400.
Resale private is around £1900-£2100.
Trading privatley is very difficult as many people with old watches want to stick with old watches, unless it is an inherited timepiece in which case quite often they want to move into something new.
Trading in with a dealer will get you a submariner (none of the rare models), Two tone oyster perpetual, cellini, Air king, oyster precision.
Quite a wide range of models.
If a dealer tells you that the watch is £1400-£1500 cash then that usually entitles you to £1800-£1900 trade in value.
My advice would be to sell privatley then use the cash to buy your ideal watch.
Put it up at £1995 and it should sell relativley quickly.
