So, after the last post looking for advice on the 50th Anniversary limited edition Speedy, I let the heart rule the head and bought 1 of the 1,957 co-axial, black enamelled face, SS watches. On sale in London for the shady side of £5k, I spent £4,110 (including the tax free refund) on mine. It comes in a massive hand-made display case with a set of tools, spares and an additional Croc Leather strap.

A word about the Service Standard I received from the main dealer in Geneva though - Simply Amazing!

The shop remained open a full half hour beyond normal closing time so that my wife and I could quaff Moet and be given a tour of the extensive historical Speedmaster collection on display in-store. I was shown the only remaining yellow gold watch, no. 22 of 57 that's currently on sale - despite my stating that it wasn't my taste...though, had I the cash!!!

After completion of the sale, the manager of the shop produced a few 'extras' to accompany the watch, including:

-The black leather bomber jacket with the Seahorse and 'Speedmaster Professional' embroidered in black on the back - no. 20 of 300 - in a 'Speedmaster' suit carrier. Now, not saying I'll wear it out, but a nice touch.
-A copy of April's auction catalogue centering on Important Omega Collectors Timepieces
-The official Speedmaster 50th Ann Press Pack - beautifully presented!
-An additional Croc Leather strap - for when the other one wears out...
-A copy of a large, glossy, 160 page slipcased book detailing the history of the Speedmaster Pro.
-* A full set of 8 enamelled commemorative Mission Badges in a presentation case - real rare.
-* A full set of 8 commemorative Mission Patches - as shown in the 50th Ann Speedy catalogue.
-2 spare Omega red 'hard-case' watch protectors for travelling.
-An 'Omega' silk scarf for the wife produced by Ermenegildo Zegna
...and an 'Omega' sports bag to carry it all home in.....

Wow! Next time I buy an Omega, it'll be a flight back to Geneva and make a weekend of it!

My thanks to Brice the manager, and his staff at Rue du Rhone Omega Centre for making the purchase of a watch into a real occasion.

I'm not jealous at all....wink

Stunning watch & sounds like you were looked after properly - at the risk of moaning about the UK...

Can you imagine that ever happening in a UK jeweller (especially one from a chain) - I can think of the odd occasion where I have rec'd good service, but nothing to the standard you got, service that would make me REALLY impressed & want to return...

Enjoy your watch & the toys. (Don't ebay them!)
