Well, I finally scratch the Oakley itch.

Hopefully with me shortly, and about 50% discount from rrp.

Next one will be a Timebomb.... Does anyone else go for lairy coloured faces? I know Yellow badge has the HHF/Jordan watch (*drools), and some on here have Seiko Monsters, but anyone else?

That is nice!!!

I've got a bit of a thing for Oakley's after buying one and finding out how bloody well made they are. I started with the Timebomb (x-metal/Carbon face) moved to the GMT (Stealth black) and then went the hole hog and bought the Time tank (full titan, now called "Minute Machine", one of the best watches I own).
I was looking into adding a holeshot to the group but will have to wait a while now after purchasing the Hamilton, but you picture hasn't helped matters at all.... dam it!! smile

Ps. The timebomb seems to have dropped hugely in price if you look around. I've seen brand new Stealth Black versions quite often sell for around the £200mark. Which is bloomin cheap considering the uk RRP.

Yes, I'm thinking Christmas is going to be good for me!

I just watched a Timetank go on ebay for around £350 - might have to wait a bit for one of those.

Where did you manage to get 50% off?

Is it somewhere we can all apply?

It is quite normal to get 50% off the UK rrp if you buy from the states, either direct from a company website or via ebay shops.

I paid £400 for my TimeTank when they first came out and the USA retail was $1200 at the time. The UK retail was at the time £950. My TimeBomb cost me £265 (again from the USA) when the UK retail was a totally shocking £1200!!!!. Again with the GMT I got a whopping saving as I only paid £179. The UK rrp on a GMT is still around the £450 mark. All three bought via the USA.

The thing about Oakley is that no official stockist in the UK are allowed to give any discount on the RRP for fear/under threat of loosing their Oakley franchise. I've been told this by several different retailers and have no reason to disbelieve them. In the USA the rule is not so strict. Not sure if Don1 went this route, but it's the best one that I know for Oakleys.

Ps. Oakley watches really are under rated though, they are far better than people think. Far better.

I'd love to get the Oakley Minute Machine or the Minute Unobtainium, and as I should be going to the states at the end of September, I might have to treat myself.

Well got it yesterday evening, and wearing it today. Very comfortable, and surprisingly light (if you think they are heavy, wear a Breitling Hercules for a bit). Bezel is quite small to current fashions - 30mm across. Everything is very clear and easy to read - normal chrono functions, except a little Oakley quirk (of course) - when you stop the timer, the top right hand dial then moves to show you the fraction of second - instead of spinning around like a loon the entire time.

It has a pleasing 'organic' feel to it - well, as organic as aluminium and rubber can! It is a handsome thing, and a very pleasing addition to the collection. I seem to be going for rainbow faced watches - black, white, blue, green and yellow. Maybe an orange monster next? ;-)

Are you saying that when the stopwatch is running, the split second dial doesnt rotate - but then when you stop, it moves to show the 'split'?

Are there any other watches like this?

Umm, I hate to say it - but I like seeing them whizzing around!

Cheers, Greg.

got an old TAG formula 1 (1996) that does the same. This was a quartz chronograph.

Gompo - yes, exactly that. Personally I think it's a (tiny) waste of battery power... I like it compared to the Festina that do exactly that.

Edited for crass stupidity.

Yes. My TAG 2000 Exclusive Chrono (quartz) does just that. Its to save battery, no other reason.

Very interesting - I guess I need to research a little more when I go eventually get a chronograph. Had been seriously considering one of these Oakley's.

Cheers, Greg.
