Hello Everyone,

Thinking of going to Switzerland to pick up either an Omega or a Breitling due to hearing about the 15-30% discounts available over there.

So heres my question, will it actually be worth it i mean due to the cheap flights available through easy jet it won't set me back much much is it really worth it for the possible discount available?

Feedback from people that have bought watches from Switzerland and have omega/breitling opinions welcome.

All help will be much appreciated.

B.

I'm in Switzerland pretty regularly and while I haven't bought a watch there, I'll be amazed if you can get 15-30% off in Switzerland. I did buy a rose gold buckle for a vintage Zenith while there last week, and there was no chance of anything off that (mind you I'd had to order it about 3 months before) and it was an utterly astronomical price!

You can get the local VAT off as its not in the EU, but you are of course liable for UK VAT when you bring it in.

All the indications I've heard are that the sticker price is what you pay. I suspect you might manage a small discount at the airport (great shop in Zurich airport by the way).

You should be able to get a 10%-25% discount from UK ADs you need to haggle

I got 23% on my Breitling, Discount will be a bit less on Omegas

or get a cheap flight to somewhere and get it dutyfree

I have bought Cartier and Ebel from a reputable dealer in Geneva and had no difficulty in negotiating 10% off for cash. VAT saving is additional. Often I think it's just a question of asking. I have bought again since and the service is outstanding.

Not sure if she is still there?? But in Frankfurt Duty free there use to be a chines lady who had a small shop and did a MASSIVE trade. it was funny to see this shop with a queue outside !! she was very very proud of her service /aftersales and prices. I bought a Omega off her 20 years ago her price was better than Dubai

20 years ago is past my memory level !! Also The whole Airport was refitted.

But there is this place

http://www.airportcity-frankfurt.com/cms/default/d... try calling them and tell them your in Heathrow etc and have found a price..will they better it etc.

If they have a a 70 year old chines lady serving....
pinch her bum and tell her I send my love. If she gets upset..dont worry 20 years is a longtime to remember.

Hi.. you can save about 20% easy in switzerland and the exchange rate helps alot too.. I've purchased two watches from there... the last one being the Bentley motors watch by Breitling and probably saved 1500 pounds on this purchase... the shop I've been using is a called Les Ambassadors who have shops in Geneva and Zurich...
