Just been into a national chain of jewellers and been charged £10 for 90 seconds work, taking a link off a watch. Any ideas where I can buy one of the really small screwdrivers watchmakers use? Ideally a set.

Sometimes you need a helping hand with bracelet links. Sometimes it is one of those situations where you need three hands - two screwdrivers + holding it all steady. There are a variety of tools that can help you out.

Have a look at some of the tools available at - http://www.jewellersequipment.co.uk

Or, you can just buy a set of Draper 'precision' screwdrivers from somewhere like Dyas for about 99p.
Several of my watches have come with Bergeon screwdriver/strap changing tools, but they're too nice to risk damaging and spoiling the set so I just use the cheapies.

Have to agree with you there, I went to Gold Smiths to buy one and they got out the catalogue, a 4 watch winder with a tray for your quartz's was £600. I said why are they so expensive and the sales person just shrugged his shoulders and said something about the finish of them, I said i'll look on ebay.
Anyway yesterday I found one on ebay from the states for £90 delivered. Even if I have to pay VAT on it, its no crying shame.
