Tag Repair Service - Problems
Discussion
Has anybody had any dealings with the Tag Repair service. I bought this watch http://www.blitzwatches.co.uk/productdetail.asp?pr... about 9 months ago and about 4 weeks ago the left pusher sheared off in my hand as I tried to change the date. I took it back to Goldsmiths who I purchased it from and they sent it off to Tag, Tago are know claiming it is down to accidental damage!! and expect me to pay £180 to get it fixed, that is £40 for the pusher and another £140 for a full service, on a 9 month old watch!
The watch has never had any kind of impact, it only gets worn every couple of weeks, and as the pusher is the one that rests against my arm it's impossible to hit it on anything anyway without breaking my arm in the process.
Is this Tags standard kind of response to any warranty claims, I've told Goldsmiths in no uncertain terms that as far as i'm concerned this is some kind of con and I'm not paying it, and they are going to get back in touch with Tag, if as I expect they come back in the negative do I have anyother kind of comeback other than taking it through the small claims court?
Thanks to anybody who got this far!!

I think the 'Sale of goods act 1979', states that the goods must be of merchantable quality and fit for the purpose for which they were intended (or words to that effect).
If you had dropped the watch then it would have suffered 'accidental damage', and the manufacturer could be held responsible. But, if it is simply a component failure then it should be viewed as a manufacture default. I would complain to the MD of Goldsmiths and the MD of TAG Heuer UK. It is a very straightforward matter for TAG to correct....
Hope this helps.
