I'm looking to buy a Tag (WAF141G.BA0813 - £1650 list in UK), for wife's birthday in few weeks.

I'm travelling couple of times next several weeks so some options for buying

1. In India (Mumbai) next week on business - I've printed a list of auth Mumbai Tag dealers from Tag website. No idea what prices will be like. Wife not with me so can't get away with wearing it on return

2. Buy from Heathrow on way out

3. In US few weeks later with wife on holiday (California)

Anybody a point of view on where I'll get the best deal ?

Thanks

Tag's are between 25-50% cheaper in India! Stick to authorised showrooms and haggle them to death!

E.g Tag Monaco UK RRP around £2200 Price in Delhi was £1270 with a worldwide warranty biggrin

When I was in San Francisco two weeks ago I popped into a couple of jewellers to see if there was any bargains due to the strength of the dollar and there was not much in it to be honest.

I'd go with India as well.

I'm in Dubai but it works in the same way - before even asking the bloke gave me GBP 520.00 off a Carrera Chrono (which was the best price he could do - I guess he could tell the difference between a tourist and a resident). Be ready to walk out the shop and you'll know when you are at 'best price' when he doesn't chase after you and starts weeping.

They'll also never tell you a price - just tap it out on a calculator and show it to you.

Thanks guys, am in Mumbai now, update for you....

Visited a few of the authorised Tag stores - most had fairly limited range and none had the specific model I wanted. Bottom line prices were approx one-thrid lower than UK retail. I tested this by haggling to death, then walking from store without buying to make sure I was at their bottom line.

Best range was at the Tag store in shopping arcade at Hyatt hotel near the airport - but still not the one I wanted. Nest best was Watches of Switzerland at Bandra - 20 mins from airport area.

Best buy of the day ? ... car and driver for 1400 rupees for 6 hours - less than £20

I've found in Thailand it's closer to 40-50% off retail, and you can usually find a store with a promotion on.

Although the proper stores are usually in upmarket shopping malls and they won't chase you if you walk out.

Hi Guys,

We are going to buy my son a good watch for his 18 th. birthday.

He wants a Omega or a Breitling,uk price around £1700.

Would it worthwhile going to Switzerland to buy?

Are you going to Delhi? There's loads of official dealers there? Let me know if you are and I'll give you their details....

know you in California on holidays Beedj, but worth looking at "Gem Nation" web site (NY based). They have the model you want at $1,600 (vs $2,395 list in US). I am in NY in Sept and plan to make an appointment to visit to look at Tag models with alarm function.

Could also try "About Time" in Dana Point, Californa. They say they have it for just under $1,600 as well

good deals to be had in Turkey or any other non EU country too. Make sure to buy from a recognised dealer though as £50 copies are plenty.

Looking at a new Omega, I was shown one that was 40% cheaper than UK list price.
Even called the watch up on the net to confirm. All papers and warrenty included too.
