Watch 'standards'
Discussion
I recall a post some timwe ago where someone was saying that there is an internatonal standard for the constrcution of 'good' watches: they even quoted it (e.g abc123x). Anybody know anything about it?
With the growing number of new names in the market I wanted something by which to make a decision on whether I was buying workmanship or hype.
Do you mean the 'Geneva Seal'? A standard for watchmaking attained by Patek Philippe amongst others, see the link for detail...

C.O.S.C. grade and test chronometers. It's the Swiss chronometer testing institute, manufacturers submit their movements for testing and C.O.S.C. grade them.
I'm not sure if that's what you're after. Their grading is fairly meaningless TBH as the manufacturer tarts up the movement for testing and only a tiny % of all movements are rated.

I hadn't thought of JLC to begin with, as I thought it would be out of budget and I was looking at Omega but there was only £400 between the Constellation and this one in the Goldsmiths sale.
