zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I hear you sigh........

Have managed to get my arse on a UK waiting list. Does anyone have any experience of wait times once on a list ? They have said possibly 2-3 years, maybe longer.. Not too fussed when I get it (it's not to sell) - but appreciate any views !?

I waited 15 months for mine and I know of one that turned up within 9 months of waiting....it all depends on who the jeweller has on their list

i am on a five and seven year list. I too want one for myself not for resale, but am hoping the list will be shorter than that. Can i ask where you got a qoute of two to three years?

I don't really want to say exactly where - as they have done me a favour. But it's a main agent up North.

Cheers

I went on every dealers list in 97, and guess what I only ever got offered one watch which I bought, a cancelled order in 1998

They go to who they want them to go to, and I dare say the odd brown envelope changes hand - we'll see..

Erm yes... I got mine at list price at less than 4 weeks after I enquired about it.. because I knew someone (actually a family) who are an extremely good customer of a dealer / jeweller. They had it in their safe.

Nothing amazingly special I guess. It's a nice piece, but it's the fact that you can't get one (at list) that makes it attractive I suppose !? For me, it's a challenge to get my grubby mitts on one for the right money...

What are these going for?

I wonder if the wait time here in Dubai would be less

At £7000 they are !

I'm happy to give £4400 though if I should be so lucky.. Until then, the trusty GMT will suffice !

Gold Daytona - very nice, but as I'm in car sales - it'd look very stereotypical !!

I went to the Rolex dealer in Aberdeen on Saturday to ask about the waiting list up here and he said it could be as long as 10 years (I got told 7 years by someone else at Christmas)! I may ask when I go home to London this weekend and see what others can do... To cut a long story short, I walked out with a steel Sub - So, not a bad day at all!

are we all talking stainless steel here? I know the gold (yuck!) and white gold more expensive ones are much easier to get but thought the UK lists for s/s were more of the 5-7 year variety

Is list on a s/s now £4420? Wow, I am sure it was £3300 when I got mine two years back although I paid slightly less (smug mode off)

Looked at SS Daytona's but prefered to spend a bit more on a WG Daytona on a Croc strap with the pink meteorite face. Lovely watch, and quite understated. Can't see the point of paying over the odds for a SS Daytona to be honest...but each to their own!
