I'm thinking of getting a watch winder suitable for two watches. I've looked at a couple and like the look (and cost) of the Beco/Birkenstock models. Anyone out there got any experience with these or others. Grateful for any pointers!

I have one of the above (a double in carbon look....), had it since february seems to do the job!

Running on batteries as I didn't order the power supply, but seems OK and not run out yet.

I have a triple spinner of the above and did not realise that the transformer did not come with it. Have you ordered the original or have you considered using one of those universal ones instead?

TIA

what are the downsides of not wionding the watches and just keeping them in a drawer until required?

I assume we are talkign autos only here as well!

Yes its only autos that "need" to be wound when not worn.

Downside
you have to set the buggers if you have not worn them for a few days not aways great when you are rushing to go to work especialy if its a complicated auto smile

I have heard talk of lubricants clumping in the mechanism(but I am not sure if there is any truth in that.

up side
If your watch is not running the little cogs and things are not getting worn out smile

I am not really sure if there is anything in it mechanicaly for me its just the inconvienience of having to set the things if I feel like a change that morning.

Concerned by a comment on an earlier thread about the Chopard winder being a weak point and 'inspired' by this thread, I've invested in a watch winder.

The winder can be set to spin either clockwise or anti-clockwise. How can I know what my watch needs? Can I damage it by setting it incorrectly?

Thanks

I thin most winders have a setting to spin in both directions, you won't damage it moving it the other way though

hi, i'm also thinking about the purchase of a winder, to keep my two watches running. I've seen a winder that will wind for 20 minutes then rest for 40, then wind for 20 again etc. this seems a little excessive. Any suggestions for an alternative winder (not too much !!), or comments on the amount of winding required. Both my watches are TAG's.
