Omega Servicing Recommendation?
Discussion
Had my Seamaster (not auto, too unreliable I gather) a good few years now and had it serviced inc. battery, new seals etc. twice via Earnest Jones, round about £70 each time I seem to recall. Had no problems whatsoever with the watch, it's worn nearly every day and I don't treat it lightly. R.
Just had my Seamaster auto serviced by Chris Heal in Rye. It is 5 years and I thought it was about time. £65 all in including pressure test. Cost me £5.30 to send registered with £1000 insurance. Can't tell what was done of course but it keeps better time now.

Had the call to say my watch was ready a few days ago so popped in today to pick it up.
It leaked whilst I was kayaking about two months ago and was taken to the aforementioned store for a repair under warranty, service and re-furb as it had a few light scratches on the bracelet and clasp.
So in I went and the nice lady asked me for £105 without actually giving me my watch back, but when it finally arrived it obviously hadn't been re-furbished as the scratches were all still there and there was still sh1t (technical horological terminology) all over it.
Needless to say I wasn't very impressed by this and asked them whether it'd actually been serviced, the chap serving said that there was no question that the internals had been sorted but that they'd obviously not done the re-furb and that it'd be another two weeks and they wouldn't be asking me for any money this time.
I have to say I'm not overly impressed thus far.

Best to get the dealer to send to Omega (Swatch Group in Eastliegh) and they wont be cheap but you will get the watch refurbished and properly serviced.....ask for this.
Most jewellers use watch repairers that do not refurb case/bracelet etc, although thay may spend five mins using a bit of duraglit! There is unfortunately a bit of a shortage of watchmakers out there and less to come.....

And the latest thrilling installment:
Phoned up today just out of interest and was told my watch was ready and someone had "already left a message on my phone actually".
Went to pick it up and they'd lost it.
It was on their computer, which was obviously a great relief, they just didn't know, where it actually, physically was at that moment in time.
They assured me that they'd probably find my watch which cost c.£1600 and was bought with the money left to me by my Grandmother, and they would give me a ring when it eventually turned up.
Suficed to say I'm even less impressed than I wasn't before.

Just reading the tread out of interest, but started thinking about my Omega Seamaster Co-axial chronometer...only a year and a bit old, but I've battered it about a bit and got a few scratches and runs a minute slow every week or so, pretty regularly.
My question is, if I send it off for a service and adjustment, if I ask for a refurb too, will all the scratches on the case/bezel be removed? And what is it likely to cost.
PS. did they find your watch in the end??

I've just got back from my final visit to the aforementioned outlet.
I now have the watch back, it's lovely and shiny and as new looking, all the scratches are gone and hopefully it won't leak again.
They waived the £105 re-furb fee in the end and were very nice about it, but based purely on performance (which is all that matters at the end of the day) I wouldn't use them again.
Time will tell (no pun intended) if the accuracy has been affected but it was well worth holding out and getting the re-furb completed.
HTH.

Bond St boutique service is poor. I was dissapointed when they presented my serviced Titanium Seamaster Chronometer back with the strap on backwards, acutually not their actual fault but they took a look on convinicing it wasn't like that when I left it.......... Until I pulled up me jacket sleeve to reveal its steel Chronograph brother and then told them that I think I know which way the strap goes.
The factory service (bad strap fitting aside) is superb. Watches come back looking like new and they replace anything in the cost - including glass IIRC. The gas pressure release cap on thee Tit had fallen off in the weeks before dropping it off. Its £180 for a steel auto Seamaster and £220 for the Titanium Chrono, and I guess a bit more for a co-axial double eagle. Workmanship is guaranteed for 24 months.
Pity their public face lets them down. I guess they get comission on new watch sales and aren't very excited by or interested in servicing etc.....
