I'm considering buying my self a Cartier roadster, TBH i don't know much about Cartier's so do any of you guys have any views or experience of the above. Are they value for money?. Even better does anyone know of the best place to source a Cartier. Thanks.

When I was looking I liked the look of the roadster, one of the down sides was that it would lose about 40% of it's value in the first year (quote from the shop, rather than me). Nice looking though smile

if you buying cartier, you are buying jewelery..for that kind of budget i would be looking at rolex, omega, zenith, breitling and even panerai...

I've got a Roadster Chrono. Great watch. Also have Tank Francaise. Takes a few shakes to get the mechanism moving, but otherwise perfect. Would have a Santos but the missus pinched it. Again, no probs at all.

i bought a tank 5 or so years ago, it was the first one of my collection still wear it now as my (nearly) every day watch.

still looks great and doesn't miss a beat dispite never being serviced.

i love it and you can wear it casual or smart, very versatile.

having said that if i had £2000k to go out and by a watch tomorrow i probably wouldn't even look at the cartier selection

couldnt tell you why perhaps its because i already have one, perhaps because tastes change or perhaps because you become more educated.

more likely a bit of all three.

probably doesnt help you much but i've never regreted buying it.

good luck.

Depends what you like??? Also new or used?? But i would go for maybe a Breitling (lots of choice), or a good auto TAG, an IWC pilots classic, omega seamaster, or a chopard mille miglia. There are tonnes to choose from in this price range. BUT not a CARTIER, sorry.

I've got a roadster which is a cracking watch. I also have a Rolex Submariner which in my mind is a better watch than the Cartier. I wear it everyday and it is much more durable that than the Roadster. To be honest the Roadster really is a piece of jewellery for occasional use.

I went to buy a roadster but ended up with a Santos Automatic instead.

I have a few nice watches but I wear my Santos every day and it's great.

100 year old design and still going strong!

I wear a cartier as my every day watch because i think its not so obvious as a rolex or tag and not as faked as a breitling. The one problem i did find is that despite the watch being engraved with water proof its not, so if you do buy one dont use it for swimming and steam rooms like i did.
Im not trying to slate the other watch makes as i have one of each of the others and some diffrent ones. But remember cartier invented the wrist watch. thats got to be worth somthing.

Same here, love it. I went for the all stainless steel one, wasn't too keen on the gold.

I got the cartier santos as well, nice watch, scratches a bit easily for my liking. You can negotiate with the dealers to a decent rate...

My watch 5k in selfridges, ended up buying it for 4k from Mappin and Webb. Could have got another £300 off as well froma specialist in leeds, but mappin and webb gave me a free first service.
Gorgeous watch though.
