Can it be done and if so who by?
I just bought a couple of second hand watches and one of them is very nice but in quite bad condition case wise scratches etc etc.
Mechanicaly its sound and Glass is good I think it just needs a good case polish.

ideas?

Is it a polished or brushed finish?

If polished its worth getting a Cape Cod cloth and trying that - they are really very good and only a few quid.

If brushed its a little harder to do, but you can get slightly abrasive pads that will do it - I'm never quite brave enough to try ...

Failing that any respectable watchmaker will be able to do it.

Hi tertious I recoginise that name and that car. from a watch forum I just joined. Love your new aquisition.

Yes its polished finish. has lots of fine "spiderweb" type scratching but some more serious scratches and 2 funny bits that look like someones had a file on it.

Well the Cape Cod cloth may get rid of the fine scratches but it won't do much for deeper scratches. Unless you're brave and/or willing to ruin it I'd probably take it to a watchmaker, a case refinish shouldn't be too much.

Thanks - rather like the new one myself ...
