Whent to the rolex showroom at the lemans circuit and i must say after seeing the submariner up close i was very impressed.
I might even buy one BUT the new Breitlings are on my list aswell.
I also saw the Daytona and i thought it was absoloutley Pants, not worth waiting upto 6 years for.
I think the submariner in blue and gold is definatley nicer than the daytona, what are the views of those that own them?

  • personally*, the blue and gold is a bit flash for my taste. i love the stainless steel and plain black look.
i agree with you about the daytona - just not my cup of tea.

in the rolex range i'd get my sea-dweller again over and above any other model.

having recently received my IWC catelogue, i now have another couple of watches on my wish list cloud9

Yup, I can second the sea-dweller, one of the reasons I chose it though was because it was a little more subtle when compared to some of the other stuff I was looking at. Blue & gold isn't my think but it's all down to personal taste. Try them all on & see which you like most. I did find the sea-dweller rather heavy at first & it's not the slimmest watch I've had! - sometimes a problem with French cuffs & cuff links. Not the end of the world though.

Am also looking into a submariner at the mo, tried on a few stainless black faced ones last weekend and they are V. nice, BUT i am trying to source the green bezel version which is a 50th anniversary model, also superb... The colour combinations on the sub are all very personal and if you like the blue-gold combo then you should buy this model!!! Nothing wrong with trying on all you can lay your hands on to see which looks best on your wrist. Again all personal taste but i will go for a sub over a dweller, explorer, gmt etc anytime.

I own a Black Submariner date and the 50th Anniversary green bezel - both class watches. When I got the 50th Anniversary I thought I'd get rid of the black dial but I have been unable to as even the bezel colour makes them two different watches smile I love em both!

Gold and Blue seems too bling for my own tastes but then I own a White Dial Steel Daytona which I see you did not like!!

Without being rude, posts like this will only confuse you more as everyone has their own tastes wobble Go for the one you like mate wink

If you like a bit of bling go for a stainless & gold Sub, personally I don't like gold or stainless & gold watches other than ladies watches. The wife has a Cariter Santos & a Rolex in stainless & gold which are both lovely. Each to there own tastes I guess.

I have had a s/s Sub & a Sea Dweller and now own a black faced s/s Daytona.

The one I prefer the most is the Daytona, however I am going to get a 50th anniversary Sub when it comes round to bonus time again early next year.

btw. the six year wait for a Daytona is not quite the case as you can get one a lot quicker if you know the right people wink

Had my stainless submariner for a couple of years now. Still love it.

Rolex will always hold their value more than Breitling, but other than that, its a very personal choice smile

with mine already being second hand i can't see it dropping in value much more.
plus it is solid gold so that should help it keep it's value (I assume)

Right there fellah! My Breitling Superocean Steelfish I bought "new" from a chap who had received it as a present and had never worn it; it was technically two months old. My other which I had had for 10 years was sadly stolen in a break in. £750 seemed right to me anyway for a NIB watch. I missed an IWC Doppel Chrono on Ebay last week due to being busy and no one had bid for it at all with a starting price of £2,100. That too was six months old with all boxes and Harrod's receipt. That one was to replace the Red Arrows Navitimer (old model from years back) They (IWC's) keep turning up from time to time so it just means being patient.
