Any idea on possible cost ,wound it on and it lost all resistance now does not work at all .
Also does anyone know if it is best to send it back to the factory or use an independant repairer the watch is out of warrenty.
If independant anyone know a good repairer in the nottingham area .

I just got mine back from Breitling after a service and it now looks like new again and has another year's guarantee. OK it did take 6 weeks to get it back but if you value the watch then I'd definitely send it back to Breitling.

Why would you get a quartz watch serviced?

Not much oiling required in there. What else do they do?

Do they refurbish the bracelet, face, hands etc?

Complete refurb. Waterproof seals, new battery, cleaned, the lot. Mine has come back immaculate on each occasion. Given that I wear it daily, it takes a hammering.

Don't worry too much RS. Breitling like a lot of watch brands use proprietary movements, supplied by companies such as Valjoux or ETA. A good local, watchmaker will be able to service an automatic Breitling. The rattling is probably a loose rotor or broken rotor pinion, sounds terminal but isn't.....

My superocean did that, the winder pin had sheared. This was under warranty and a well worded letter got me an additional warraty FOC too. All in all they gave me 6 years warranty just through me saying how concerned i was at the reliability and the fact that genuinley 4 pals had bought the same watch after liking mine, i quoted serial codes and names.

This was a very expensive repair though

I know a very good watch man in Nottingham, I always pop round his house and drop mine off but I've know him since I was a kid and he's a familly friend, not sure if he's got a workshop anymore but he's very good and has worked on my Breitling B1 (only a battery replacement) but has done lots of bits and bobs on some of my other watches, drop me a line and I'll give you his number. wink

Interesting to note that a new battery in my Aerospace cost about £50 in London and took 10 days whereas having it done in Switzerland cost £10 and it was ready in an hour. Almost paid for the flight!

I know the manager of Berrys, his name is Andrew

He does good discount (paid £2650 for my Navitimer World on a steel bracelet) and always goes out of his way to help if you have problems, top place and top manager

And having the battery replaced in my B1 by my man who does a lot of work for a lot of the Nottingham highstreet places even though they will have told you it's gone back to the manufactuer wink was £3.50 smile

Small price to pay for a watch you plan on keeping for life or selling for a good sum.
