Need to get the battery replaced in my TAG, does it need to be sent to tag or can any watch shop do a decent job.

I think most of the jewellers send them back to TAG, I know mine does.

Seek out a decent local watchmaker. Changing the cell is simple with the right equipment. The important point is to have a pressure test carried out on the completed case to make sure it is water-resistant to the correct rating. A decent watchmaker should be able to do this in 5 mins or so.

I had mine returned to Tag, who can then take responsbility if the seals fail.
The cost was around £40-50.

Just had mine done under warranty after nearly 2 years and had good service from the Tag service centre which I found through their website (called LMVH or something like that). I send the watch away and it came back 3 weeks later.

I've had the battery replaced twice in mine in 11 years of ownership - never been back to TAG. Each time by an independant jeweller - the last time 2 years ago whilst working in Turkey! Never any problems, seals still intact and tested. Still swim with it - keeps better time than my Omega!

I have always sent mine to LVMH Watch & Jewellery in Manchester. I have never found any shop on the High Street who will replace the battery. Goldsmiths will, but i think they send to LVMH
