Im in the market for a new watch, I have a nice dress watch (Cartier Tank/Chrono) IMO and sporty-casual day to day jobby (Breitling Montbrillinat Datora)
These both have stainless steel bracelets and as such I have bee considering a watch with a leather strap? any thoughts? I quite like The Jaeger Le Coutoure Master Compressor Chronograph and Panerais but am not sure whether Pan is too big?
Does anyone have a leather strapped Daytona and if so are you happy with it? I know theres a list etc, but do you consider the only Daytona to have as SS?
Any other ideas suggestions would be appreciated budget is circa 5k ish
Cheers

I don't believe there's anywhere near the same sort of wait list for leather strapped Daytonas (though could be wrong). Think they may only have gold cases though (white or yellow).
However, one of the nicer parts of the Daytona is the bracelet. I'd only get one with one.
I'm always mentioning them, but have a look at the Blancpain range. They look equally good with bracelet or strap (though IMO their bracelets are the very best on the market) and their range covers everything from dress to sport. Build quality is exceptional and the movements are finished off very nicely.
The more I see Panerais, the more I like them. Well worth trying one on for size.
You might also want to check out the IWC Doppelchronograph. See if you can get to try a ceramic version - these look very different and would compliment your other two IMO. The ceramic case is black, and won't scratch. And the details on the watch are great (it's another big one though!). They also come on a strap (think it's made of kevlar).
Really depends on what sort of watch you're looking for though.

Depends on the type of style you are going for. The IWC Ceramic Doppelchronograph is a limited edition and the strap is a type of weaved webbing type thing(technical i know!). It is a lot more sporty looking than say an IWC Portugieser which comes with leather strap and doesn't look too flashy so that you can't wear it all the time. Also comes in limited edition FA Jones model though i can't remember the exact differences.

I have a Panerai 000 and as I'm a skinny sod I was also worried about it looking silly/too big on my wrist.
It looks fine. As others have said they also tend to come with a number of straps and part of the "culture" of the watch is that the straps are easy to change, oddly I tend to wear mine mostly on the silicone divers strap rather than the leather one.
