Just bought one today I'm in Las Vegas and have been looking on the off chance I would find one. It is the new 07 Gulf branded one. RRP over here is $3295 but you should be able to get a bit of discount, I bought a watch for the mrs too so got a very good discount. The place I bought mine from had 6 and have now sold out.

UK Dealers are quoting full list on these at £2500. I have tried to find some on line but no joy.

They will be available in 3-4 weeks

When Tag/Heuer introduced these "Classic" watches they just had "Heuer" on the dial. Soon they added "Tag" which in my opinion spoiled the the classicness( probably not a real word)of the watches. I expect to be shot down in flames by all the F1 types but I think it detracts from the 60's/70's look of the watch. Perhaps it should be an option.

I saw this on display in Selfridge's Oxford Street on Saturday. I think it was about £2500 so if you want one desperately enough to pay full RRP they may still have it.

£2500 yikes I paid over a grand less than that. You could get a flight to the states buy one and still save money.

Are they in any way the same as the original Heuer Monaco? I thought the Tag Carrera and Monacao ,Monza etc were totally different watches from classic heuers Just in a similar case.

TAG was added to the logo when Techniques d'Avant Garde (Swiss engineering group) bought Heuer in 1985. Occasionally they release a limited edition retro model with only the Heuer name on the dial.

Incidentally, I have a vintage Breitling that uses a curly, stylised B and which pre-dates the wings logo Breitling now uses.

This is what I was told when I orginally was looking at one of the release Carreras.

Bought a Zenith instead.

IIRC the winder on an original Monaco is on the LHS, not so on a repro

Not 100% correct it's on the LHS on the Automatic, but on the manual it's on the RHS with the pushes.

The winder is on the left.

I have recently bought a classic Heuer Monaco and it really nice but having said that I really like the limited edition repro's. So much so I am considering the black faced one just cos its nice. In my view the original Heuers are nicer but to wear every day I'd go for a repro as if it buggers up you have the warranty etc.

My everyday watch is a Oris big crown flight timer which I think is a really nice piece and well worth considering if not already.

Lovely looking watch, but IMHO are now sold on those looks / brand / heritage alone. A TAG Heuer is not a Heuer nor anything like it. As I said, nice looking piece though...

I came so close to buying one of the new Gulf vintage watches at £2.5k.

I still REALLY want one, but £2.5k is just too much.
