as topic suggests, i've been to a couple of dealers today and they wouldn't budge on the explorer 2 at £2740, however they would offer discounts for other watches in the range...£250 off a £4250 watch..is this standard pricing throughout the UK.

...you'll never get a discount at an authorised dealer on the stainless steel sports watches. You MAY get a small discount on gold/bi-metal.

Rolex tries to price-fix and has been known to withdraw the franchise from authorised retailers who have been discounting.

How about buying a lightly used explorer 2 and saving £7-800?

I've never been able to get a discount on a ss sportswatch at a dealer - all I have managed is an extra special discount on a second watch (not a rolex) for the Mrs.

Agree with Maxf, buy a late model watch with all the bits and save yourself a bundle. This'll also take the sting out when you come to p/x it yourself for your next purchase, and invariably there will be one..... D

I bought my Explorer II recently from Mappin and Webb in terminal 3 at Heathrow, at the full discount for no VAT.

If you are travelling soon, then try this route.

I called up beforehand, and paid in full (they do not have them in for long before they sell, apparently), and then picked it up when I was flying.

Best way to go, I think.
