Morning

My other half lost her engagement ring the other week, which was little stressful as you can imagine. The upshot is that we will have vouchers to use at Ernest Jones (I'm assuming we can buy anything with these vouchers, and not just a ring?)
Looking on the web, one option is to replace the ring from somewhere else rather than Ernest Jones, which will leave us with vouchers to use. So I might treat myself to a watch.

Being that I know absolutely nothing about watches, any recommendations on the selection from Ernest Jones up to a grand? In case Kate can't find a ring she wants from there?

You should be able to get an Omega Seamaster for under a grand. It'll probably be the Quartz version but they are super accurate and look and feel great.

Reduced size Speedmaster automatic is £1000 I think (although haggle as I just paid £800 for one for my Mrs from H Samuel - although it was ex-display).

Non-automatic seamaster is £950, might wait till there is a sale on if we go this route.

Don't spend a grand on a quartz watch, please...

You can get (as mentioned) the automatic Speedmaster for less than a grand if you haggle. Also, for a lot less, I like Seiko as they make virtually all their components in-house and design their own movements.

You won't get them at H Samuel but there are some great pilot-style watches in the IWC style for that sort of money, check out Sinn (Neil @ Chronomaster sells them on the web). I've got a 356 II chrono, lovely for around £600...

SUPERB. Call them and ask for Dee. You can pick up in person in Chiswick. They supply Beckham, amongst others.

I'm sure they are all lovely, but i've got Ernest Jones vouchers to use, so it has to be from there!

I've had a Seamaster (quartz big face) for 8 years now, super super accurate, hardwearing and relatively discrete, love it!
PS you might find the chrono a bit thick for everyday use, try before you buy!

If Ernest Jones do not have what you require, you could sell the voucher/card at a discount and buy what you want with the proceeds......D

Just remember, some branches of Ernest Jones will give a 10% discount just for asking. I got £165 off my Constellation coz I wasn't too proud ask - and I was using insurance vouchers having had my house turned over by some 'soon-to-be-dead' junkie scrote who spent time dismantling my double glazing from the outside and hence bypassing window deadlocks etc.

I bought a TAG from ernest jones (no probs and auto) you may have to go to a city branch to get a wider choice.... but it will be worth it!! TAG probably have the most choice in this price bracket but look at others as you may want to add a little money to it so you can get the exact one you want! dont sacrifice choice for the sake of £100.00

What about an ORIS?

All Automatic(i think)and very well made and feel great on.

And at GoldSmiths i got them down from £1100 to £940 just because i asked and was a cash buyer.

I saw it and had to have one, better for wearing everyday than my best watch.

I checked if they are agents and they sell Breitling too. Really it depends on whether she wants a "feminine" watch or a chunky one, but you should be able to get her one within the budget.
