I know this is a car forum and i hope this does not come across at all materialistic but was just wondering if you lot are in to your watches as well?

I have a Breitling Montbrilliant Datora for casual and Cartier Tank Chrono for smart.

Just intersted to see if theres any correlation???

Cheers

Can you not appreciate that in the same way that people come on here to talk about cars etc, someone might think it interesting to know what watches people are into??? they are both highly enginerred/design products that people buy for their looks and relative merits??

As I said not being material just interested, if you had posted drive 911 wear Timex I would have thought thats different but cool nonbetheless!!

not trying to get into a post punch up but thought you were a little harsh, if i have mis interpreted sorry!

joe im guessing you never venture to the other forums, the watch thing has been done many times before for many many many pages, search using rolex etc on the pie & piston or general gassing forums- GG used to be both car & general chat, now GG is car only & the dross & tw@t chat is restricted to the sewer of the pie & piston forum.

apolgies mate, didnt realise it had done the rounds allready!

no hard feelings eh!?!?

Well fed up with the Merc, get proper frustrated reading about how much enjoyment people are getting out of their cars and mines just practical and dull, though it does look nice. Sad thing is i think my next car is gonna have to be a prcatical purchase as well (do alot of miles workwise) which is even more annoying

il get the 911 eventually though, ive got to.

Cheers

Hey Joethetoe.

Do the only decent thing to save your sanity, buy a day car & keep something special for the weekend!

I did! The other half doesnt know about the latter!!!

People who appreciate quality engineering often have an interest in fine watches...........maybe a bit too cultured for the Porsche forum???

Joe, Dazren loves his watches and even wanted a separate clock forum, from memory. I think PetrolTed misread his request and said 'but we have pie and piston already'.

PS I've got a Breitling Chronomat but it's useless at keeping time so I use my mobile phone clock instead... I'd get a TAG Monaco at some point as well; seeing as I drive like Steve McQueen I might as well look like him as well

Or get the new Patek Phillipe Badger-tron, it's mid bend timing is impeccable

LOL, or how about the Chopard La Fergule.... if you overwind it in the Eifel mountains you're left with a hefty bill and lots of bent and broken internal bits.

PS Have to meet up for a beer soon.

ive got an omega seamaster that has cost more than my ford ka to service over the last 3 years. in fairness it gains 45 minutes a day (honestly - its sh1t) which makes it considerably quicker than the ka.

there is something wrong with your watch!! i have a seamaster. its brilliant. totally bombproof, the crystal is unscratchable, it loses maybe a second or two a year. I would humbly suggest that your servicing has not solved the problem and youve got a perfect right to demand it be corrected since this watch is not designed to gain 45mins a day.

if your porsche went to the opc for a fix and it wasnt fixed, you'd take it back, right?

My brother has a seamaster. It's titanium. I quite fancy melting it down and using the metal for an Ultima gearknob.
