Ladies watch £1000 budget

My wife has a significant birthday coming up soon and wants a watch

Something contemporary, so many women’s watches seem to be “old lady” style which may be true of her coming birthday but nonetheless…..

Budget up to £1000
To be worn everyday

It seems difficult to work out what you get for your money, expensive branding cheap watch vs quality

I was looking at Tissot? Any others to consider?

My wife got this a few years ago. It was under £1000 then. It's been very good.

I would probably say go for quartz. Most women don't seem bothered by movements.

Certina is worth looking at too, some great watches and part of the Swatch group, as is Tissot.

Another recommendation for quartz as well, otherwise you'll only hear "why do I have to keep winding it up if you paid £xxx?"

My wife has had a Longines Conquest auto for a good 15 years now. Has never missed a beat.

Not sure if you'll get an auto for under a grand mind you so go for a Quartz. Quality watches.

Agree with quartz and also Longines if she wants a brand at that price limit., Tissot and Certina also represent good value for money.

Pre-owned a possibility? I had a quick browse on Chrono24 for automatic movements / complete sets / ‘Very Good’ condition / in UK or EU (buy under budget and sling in a romantic weekend to collect!) and there’s gorgeous stuff in there:

Not all ladies are indifferent to movements. My wife has an Omega Speedmaster Reduced which was a 40th birthday present, similar to this:

and more recently a Venezianico Redentore 36 with diamond markers.

Both have mother of pearl dials and have automatic movements; she has a dual winder to keep them moving and ready for wearing. She has a smaller Certina quartz as a daily.

We also bought our daughter a Longines tank style watch for her graduation.
