I'm not a watch person, but fancy buying another, both 'just because' and so I have two to pass down in later life. I have a 2023 Rolex no date sub and I fancy an IWC Portofino or Portugieser. I also fancy a Daytona but I suspect I'll have slim to no chance of getting one new (no interest in used for that)

I suspect buying new doesn't make sense for the IWC. Any particular recommendations on year, movement or whatever or is it simply a case of 'whatever you like the look of'? Any views welcomed.

I Have a couple of IWCs

Portuguese 7 days Auto, ref IW500705
Top Gun Pilots Watch 44mm, ref IW389101

The Portuguese is a stunning watch and goes well in most situations, smart or casual. The 7 day reserve is very handy if you maybe only wear on the weekends (I tend to use my beater watches at work, nice ones for evenings/weekends).

Silver dial against the blue markers pops very nice.
I hankered after one for about 20 years before buying. Should have done it sooner, but life got in the way.

I have/know a good AD based in the North and can put you in touch with him if you want new and a %off RRP.
Won't hold it's value as well as a Rolex, but that depends on if you will be selling in the future.
Guessing not if you intend to pass down to your kid(s).

Used, they are mega value too.

You won't go much wrong with a Portuguese. Lovely watch.

2015 onwards watches came with the improved winding system and use ceramic wheels to reduce friction + twin main springs for improved accuracy when fully wound or when almost out of power. Earlier generation (up to 2014 model) watches were too fast or too slow when fully wound/almost empty.

Something to consider.

I've got this which I like. I agree they don't hold their value as I tried to part exchange it for a white dialed Speedmaster and was suprised by the low offer, so I kept it.

A family member has ended up with an IWC ,watch in one box and strap in another .
She asked me what to do with it and I have told her to send some photos.
All she said was it's a pilots watch .
I'll post when I have more information.

I walked past my local jeweller today strangely and spotted a couple of IWCs.

I have this exact watch - I think it’s beautiful, but I’m thinking of selling it, as I just don’t wear it enough.

I was in the fancy part of Portugal recently and the best looking watch I saw was a white pilots IWC, looked so good

Yeah that’s a 3717 I think you can tell the standard subdial layout of the ETA 7750 the movement is based on. Worth a shade over £2k.

Not what you asked for but I always thought these aqua timers were a nice looking watch.

Do they still make them not looked at the brand in ages.
