Interesting story.
A close friend of mine had his IWC lifted off his wrist near London Bridge about 5 years ago. He was drunk and it was a distraction type theft not a violent one.

He got a call a few weeks back from the police saying that they had recovered his watch!

I'm awaiting further details from him...

If he claimed on his insurance, and they paid out, it technically isn't his anymore. I had this happen with a stolen bike and the insurance company offered it back to me at the price that they had paid out, I declined as I had already replaced it.

It wasn't insured.

The irony of having to press “Watch” to follow this thread is not lost on me.

An unusual story especially after five years, lucky guy.
