I've got a significant birthday coming up.

I'm after a manual wind chrono bicompax. Not that many around at a vaguely acceptable price.

Been looking at the Speedmaster 57 - lovely watch. Lovely movement - quite pricey. £8900, but can get ~18% off from a grey dealer.

Then there's also the various watches with an AMT5100m in - either an Oak and Oscar Atwood. Probably about 2.5k with import duty and VAT. You'll never seen another over here.

And also the Hanhart RedxGrey. Again, again roughly 2.3k on bracelet. But if does come with a lovely desk stopwatch to play with.

Both of these are flyback, and slightly more unusual than the Speedy 57. Which isn't particularly common either.

I already have a couple of other watches, inc omegas. Which ever I get will be the main daily watch. I like understated, but excellent.

so...the Speedy 57 is better. It'll be better finished, and the movement is better. But is it 3x better? Do I treat is as the chance to get another omega i really want - or do I go cheaper, more unusual. One I'd be more careful wearing, one I'd wear everywhere.

Any thoughts? And not a Speedy Pro please. Something more unusual.
