On Tuesday I got a rather strong static electric shock from a control panel when I wanted to open a roof air vent. That building on the whole is full of static electricity, and bar being a slight annoyance, it's never been an issue. After the big shock my automatic Longines Hydroconquest has kept stopping, three times now since the shock.

I've never had any issues before with it stopping, so my concern is has the static caused some damage to the watch's movement?

The EMF induced in the case by the shock might have magnetised the movement, you can buy a demagnetiser pretty cheaply online which would be a good first attempt at a fix. If that doesn't work a watchmaker would be your next port of call.
