Added mine to house insurance too for about £25. Covers whilst out wearing it too.
Absolutely the right move -- see my posting in https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... for my accident with my Patek as a perfect example as to why you need it!Does anyone have any other suggested insurers to add to this thread? I'm looking to get a few quotes.
My wife wears her Datejust daily, and I never wear any nice watches as they just sit in my drawer at home. I want to insure my wife's and mine, so that I can actually enjoy wearing things again with impunity.
Thanks

I've found a lot of house insurances wont insure anything thats worth above 10k now.
I have just discovered that right now on the chat with Aviva. They won't go above £10,000. I tried to accept the £10k cover with them and take the risk for the extra £1000-2000 myself on one of the watches but they refused and said that would be classed as deliberately under insuring and they may not pay out in the event of a claim.
So I'll probably have to speak to a specialist.

So here's another strange one for you all - I filled in a form online for Highworth Insurance to give me a quote, and they just called me to discuss.
The lady was very pleasant and said they could give me a quote. She asked how long I had owned the watch, I said about 9 years, then she asked if it was stored in a safe at home when not being worn, I said yes, and she asked if it had been insured before. I said no, I haven't insured it previously, but due to the increased values of these items I thought it best to insure it from this point forwards.
She then told me they wouldn't insure watches that had not been insured previously!
What is that all about??
