My venerable Seiko 7123 has developed a minor issue. The winder normally has two positions of pulling out - about 0.75mm to change day and date, and about 1.5mm to change the time.
On recent occasions when I've tried to change the date it's been tricky to find the exact position, but today it's disappeared completely.
Is there anything I can do, eg squirt WD40 into the gap, or is it (a) local repair job (b) back to Seiko UK?

There was talk about older Seikos earlier in another thread. For context a hobby of mine is resurrecting old Seiko watches. In this case I suspect the problem is a worn step bush.
Depending on how much you like the watch and how much you value a repair, I would consider sending it to Seiko UK. Their customer service is excellent, if a bit slow.
If you have the skill and patience it's not a hard DIY repair but a full service would be better and probably around £100 at a wild guess.
Depends how much you like it I suppose. I love my BFK.

The watch means a lot to me so I don't want to entrust it to any random herbert. It's been to Seiko UK before which was fine, though it means two trips in the post. Can anyone recommend a place in Colchester?
