Rolex Submariner budget of upto £10k
Discussion
Hi,
We have reached a milestone in terms of family life and I am feeling I might go for a more expensive timepiece. One that I've coveted for some time.
Does anyone here recommend particular sites, dealers when it comes to purchasing such time pieces. Seems like a minefield out there on preliminary research.
I have even read some buying direct from ebay.
Thanks

There was a Submariner no date in the window of Rolex in the Trafford Centre yesterday, looked available for £8650 I think.
Would be very surprised if that was the case as they're still selling a good bit over list.Watchfinder have good stock currently and you'll get a 40mm date/non-date with B&P for £9k.

There is such a ridiculous variety to choose from - are you wanting the latest version or something older?
If something older, you need to work out what it is you like on them and what you might want to go for - e.g. date or no date, tritium or noctilume (or whatever it is called), printed or applied dial markers, ceramic or brushed bezel, black or a colour (dial and/or bezel), steel or precious metal...

Go and check out Hackett Watches online - Dom currently has a good selection available within your budget. I have purchased on more than one occasion from him and I highly recommend.
You’ll find there are also other very satisfied customers here on PH. To be honest, I wouldn’t look anywhere else.

Nice watch, but for £10k I would get something that is more hand made.
Currently liking these - a lot of hand craftsmanship, awesome double swan neck regulator, comparable to watches that cost £50k Reminiscent of a Lange 1

or for more of a daily wear a Grand Seiko, maybe a Lake Tawa or a Birch

Apologies, not sure why the pics are giant!

It's just personal taste though isn't it?Currently liking these - a lot of hand craftsmanship, awesome double swan neck regulator, comparable to watches that cost £50k Reminiscent of a Lange 1

Those watches you posted don't do anything for me personally, at all. To me (and also the OP by the sound of it) the Submariner is the best looking watch ever made, closely followed by the GMT being the second best looking watch ever made.
Some people may laugh at that, but you can't help liking what you like

Those things are undoubtedly execllent, but its always worth suggesting other alternatives.

Just seen one in my AD here in the window for £6709 ex VAT, so would be £8386 in the UK. No exhibition only signs. Watchfinder have good stock currently and you'll get a 40mm date/non-date with B&P for £9k.

Due to the drop in secondary prices of SUB, the demand is no longer there. Also, the instaflexers who wanted subs have now moved onto GMT's.We have reached a milestone in terms of family life and I am feeling I might go for a more expensive timepiece. One that I've coveted for some time.

See if you can pop into your local AD and express your interest. I don't think it will take long at all.
Good Luck!

Glashutte is nice but the other two GS do nothing at all for me. Currently liking these - a lot of hand craftsmanship, awesome double swan neck regulator, comparable to watches that cost £50k Reminiscent of a Lange 1

Seconded. I’ve done quite a bit of business with Dominic. He can also source new watches at good discounts as well as being a trustworthy ‘pre-owned’ dealer. You’ll find there are also other very satisfied customers here on PH. To be honest, I wouldn’t look anywhere else.
