Anyone you can recommend? Or should I go the official dealer route.

The watch is an older ladies Day Date worn by SWMBO - an older lady biggrin

He knows how to charge!!! £850 quoted. eek Could this be because it is a 1979 watch and it is a movement repair not a service?

I believe that Watchworks are Rolex accredited - so a service with them is presumably no different to booking it with an AD.

An independent watchmaker would probably charge less.

Do you know the model number? You say it's 1979, which makes me wonder if it's a caliber 2035. They were one of Rolexes more experimental designs and may actually be worth sending to Rolex if it hasn't been back there in a while as they have some quirks.

To confirm this (as Rocco’s stepson), you’re absolutely correct. Rocco is Rolex accredited, so he and his workshop meet the same standards as sending the watch to Rolex themselves. Prices are set by Rolex UK. The advantages are local drop off, shorter lead times and a choice over refinishing of cosmetic parts.

His work comes with a Rolex backed warranty and parts where needed are supplied directly from Rolex UK. There are no independents with the same skill, workshop standard, warranty or parts availability in the south west!

Just had my Rolex Datejust and jubilee bracelet refurbished and serviced by Rocco at Watchworks in Bristol. Did a superb job and I travelled up from West Sussex. Would absolutely trust him to do an A1 job.

I'd love to know if there's an independent closer to Cambridgeshire that would give my Dad's 2003 Datejust its first service? Could anyone offer any suggestions? Unfortunately, it has just stopped working...

All the best.
