Morning all,

Bought a brand new Breitling from a AD a week later it's got to be send back to Breitling for inspection and possible repair! Should I be going for any recourse from the AD?

They haven't offered me anything or apologised.

I've seen the waiting time can be months for repairs. It's my first expensive luxury watch and I haven't even worn it yet! It was inspected before delivery by the AD and passed.

I've previously received a letter offering a free service having had a similar experience. This was from the manufacturer rather than the AD.

Presumably you bought it in person? If ordered at a distance you should be able to simply return for refund.

Did you write a email direct to the manufacturer?

I feel like the AD have lacked customer service from day one. Even getting the delivery address wrong, thankfully royal mail recognised my name.

I could go for the refund, the AD doesn't have another type of this watch in stock.

I purchased online, the only issue with returning for the refund is I bought the watch under a price match guarantee (35% discount).

The original watch with the discount has now sold out so I won't be able to get another price match.

A watch that has an issue from brand new, bought from an AD who doesn’t want my custom. I think I’d be getting a refund and sitting back while thinking about my next move. I’d expect better from a decent used watch dealer!

I hear you. My new Navitimer 43 has a mark, like a lump of paint or something on the outer chapter ring. It has got to go back to Breitling under warranty, via the AD. Disappointing.

Personally would 100% get a refund. Easy.

My seamaster had to go back to Omega for a white mark on the dial. I guess these things happen.

If you are happy with the price and they are happy to sort out what ever the problem is - what is the issue?

If you are no longer interested and you bought online you can ask for a refund.

I recently (February) bought a Bretling and it gained 14 seconds a day, I sent it back via Breitling White City and received it back in 3 weeks. The repair centre in in Tonbridge. Lots of updates from the repair centre, as its new they will fix it quickly, I suspect the selling shop didn't want to give a refund/swap as its faff for them.

By modern standards there isn’t really too much going on in a watch, parts to them are cheap too. I’d take the fix as it will come back perfect.

I’d just return it for a refund. I wouldn’t want to pay thousands for a brand new item that had to be repaired immediately.

I bought a speedy pro in December 2019, I didn’t start wearing for 6 months as I was saving it as a birthday present. In July 2020 is was running four times too fast so I took it into the shop where I bought it, they sent it off to omega to be sorted which took about 6 weeks.

I just took this as one of those things that happens and didn’t consider asking for anything as an apology.
