When I was young in the late 90s my father used to buy National Geographic and there was frequently a watch advertised in it with very bright yellow, orange and azur faces. Does anyone know what watch or brand that was? Are they still around? From memory the advertising frequently used antique aircraft and ocean racing boats as a backdrop to the adverts.

I've never cared much for watches but I do remember those being quite appealing and thought I could buy a few in the different colours as they where about the most interesting I recall seeing.

Doxa have also produced those colour ways for decades and have an association with underwater exploration.

I know Breitling seem to be frowned upon in watch circles but Ive just bought a Superocean heritage and really like it. I quite like some of the brighter coloured ones too

But have never advertised in National Geographic....

This thread piqued my interest as I worked in media for many years and 'Nat Geo' was on most international media schedules - there were only a few watch brands that advertised in pan regional media, Breitling being one.

Advertising works, who knew?

Thanks for the other brand suggestions above, I'll have a look at those as well.

Heh. One of the reasons I could never have a Breitling is because I always associate them with the ‘pay in instalment’ ads on the inside back page of porno mags when I were a lad.
