Hi all,

Looking to pick up a new watch and have negotiated a deal I’m happy with from BQ Watches.

Their trustpilot reviews check out, have a physical store etc. But before finalising, just wondering if any first hand forum experience of dealing with them?

Cheers!

Haven’t bought from them myself, but a colleague wanted to sell a Kermit (b&p with recent Rolex service) last year. He contacted BQ and had an incredibly low ball offer, and they would only sell on consignment. Always starts alarm bells ringing when consignment is the only option offered. He went elsewhere, got a much better price and no consignment. I suspect their ‘YouTube image’ is far from reality.

Yes , let’s leave my £5k /£10k or whatever value watch with a company I have no dealings with so they can sell it at no financial risk to themselves.

Same with many other grey watch dealers , not a chance of me doing that.

I have sold with them and had a great experience, I wanted out of a bi metal Daytona last year and it was a good experience start to finish.

My neighbour who is a proper watch guy has also used them and great service.

I sold a watch with them on consignment ~1 year ago. It was simple and painless. Would use them to sell again.

Thanks for the comments here all - much appreciated.

I went ahead with the purchase, unfortunately the watch was not as described so it's being returned.

I wouldn't necessarily rule them out in future, but I'd do a lot of asking around what I am buying and not take "excellent condition" at face value.

Thats dissapointing but not uncommon !!

I had to return a Cartier to a well known dealer yesterday which was excelent condition with papers ... apart from the fact it was missing its warranty card when it arrived the service book wasn't stamped ( as prommised) and had a 2018 date stamp it was sold with serial number and the box had another date for the same the same watch with manufacture date 2 years later !!

Oh and the face wasnt original on a 2018 or 2020 watch !!

Hmmm

Just to close this out, really impressed with the return to BQ.

They sent out a pack for me to return it with. I dropped it at the post office 1.30pm yesterday, they'd paid for guaranteed before 1pm next day and received my return this morning. By 2.30pm today (so just over 24 hours after I sent it back) the money was back in my account.

So overall a mixed experience, but would try again if they had the right thing in the right condition.
