Wondering if anyone has had success negotiating on a pre owned through Goldsmiths/WoS?

They have a voucher code for 10% off which takes the price of what I am looking at to £5400 but I only want to pay £5000 for it…..

Subdial have one of the same they’ll sell me for £4750 but the Goldsmiths one is in slightly better condition and with 12 months extra warranty.

I tried Watchfinder with their sham of a price match promise, and for the 2nd time in 2 weeks they acknowledged that the watch I presented them to price match is cheaper and falls within the terms of their promise, however they refused to match due to not having enough margin in their watch. Which kind of defeats the object of such a “Promise”.

On the basis of what you have said, they are being dishonest. I would try trading standards etc aftr writing to them and repeating for the record exactly what they have said to you. "Not having the margin" is irrelevant unless they make the price match offer contingent on that ie "we will price match but only if we can afford to do so"

I CBA to check but they may well have a caveat in their T&Cs that says - when we say "promise" it means only if we can afford it-

TBH I suspect that many dealers are in a position currently where they have no equity at market price.

Plenty of get outs. Sounds like an empty promise
