Option to buy one of two watches - which?

Have a IWC pilots watch chronograph on hold at my AD.

Model is IW389101




The same AD now has an Omega Speedmaster white dial available as well and is holding it for me.




Question is, which to get first?

Whichever I go for, I'll be getting the other hopefully in the next 8 to 12 months.

Heart was set on the IWC but I know the white speedy is new/in demand more.

Not fussed on values as they will be bought to be worn, not sold or take a hit on profit etc etc.

For context, already have a IWC Portuguese 7days. Also have an Omega Seamaster SMP 300 blue dial and a steel/gold Omega Constellation.

The pilots watch will add to the IWC collection count and the white dial speedy will complete the omega 'trifecta' so to speak.

Get whichever you feel in your gut you want more - don't buy on logic unless you are treating it as an 'investment', as that way, when the bubble pops some more, you will still love the watch and not feel aggrieved that you can't move it on.

Big fan of both brands and I’ve owned both myself, albeit I’ve owned Seamaster and planet oceans from Omega not a speedmaster.

It’s personal preference but I would personally choose the IWC if it was me

I love speedies and have had several but for some reason I've never gotten on with that bracelet with the rounded links.

That’s a hard decision. I like IWC more than Omega but that white Speedmaster is impossible to resist. It’s so nice.

In 8 to 12 months will you be able to just walk in and buy one more easily than the other? I know neither would be too difficult but I’d imagine the IWC would be easier to source in 8 months time.

White Speedy as it’s the watch to have now. Buy the IWC used later.

I just looked in Mappin & Webb on the way home and the IWC was in the window. Couldn’t see the white Speedmaster.

They are very different, but having worked in Switzerland, IWC seemed a bit controversial with the locals as to how ‘Swiss’ they actually were, the bare minimum I understood, put me off them as a brand, but I haven’t bought a watch for myself in 25 years!
