Rolex Daytona values
Discussion
Considering a Daytona on the grey market and interested in forum views on market values.
I’d be looking for stainless steel, probably with a white face and relatively recent - say 0-5 years old.
Obviously I can see how much they’re advertised for. My question is really whether they are changing hands for the advertised price or a bit less? All educated views welcomed!

I would hold off a bit.
The market has dramatically changed, and although Daytonas have always been tricky to aquire new, they, like the others are coming through.
The grey market prices shall drop to reflect that the overs on the majority of new Rolex is diminishing rapidly.
Like every business, they have to turn over stock, even if that means less, profit, selling at what they bought at, or taking a loss...

If it's any indication of the market I tried punting my 2004 116520 to Watchfinder a few months ago, and they would only take it on SOR as they appear to have more stock than customers, so I'd be chucking cheeky low ball offers at any you fancy in the hope the owner needs to liquidate.
In my opinion, I would ditch the age of the watch in my head and if you like the Daytona, get a Daytona.
Anywhere in the last 20 years will give you a solid, reliable and stunning watch that will give you satisfaction for years to come.
At the moment, several retailers are having sales with massive discounts, so the time is ripe for getting one.
For instance, one of the stores local to me is having a sale to clear stock so they can buy more watches in.
They have a 116520 from 06 which was £23.500 and they have just reduced it to £16,500.
Granted it is showing its age, but with a little TLC it will look just as good as a new one.
The bottom has already fallen out of the market, due to the recent "Approved Used" line, so I believe the time for hesitation is over.
Obviously just my thoughts, but having been in this industry for over 30 years, I just feel like now is the time.

Would you take £10k?Does anyone have an insight as to how long the waiting list actually is ? 10 years has been mentioned to me recently. I wanted to buy one for my 40th with some money my Mum gave me but we moved house at around the same time so I could not justify it. Never bothered going on the list because we dont have a local dealer anymore and I am not going to buy any other Rolex. Mother since passed away & now in a position to buy a new one at list but not prepared to pay 'overs' . Thinking I should just wait for the used ones to tumble some more !

I’d say it depends who you are and what buying history you have. But if you’ve not purchased from the dealer before and prices stay strong I’d say you’ll never get one. The AD is always going to want to sell them to customers who buy / will buy other pieces. Ziplobb said:

The list for SS Daytonas is closed at WOS, and I suspect the same for everywhere else.I assume they might open it for a seriously big spender/celebrity but for the rest of us there isn't a list you can even get onto.
