Hi all.

I recently (about a month ago) bought a Ball watch from a smaller authorised UK retailer, listed new at £800 down from £1000. Fair chunk off so seemed like a no brainer.

They advertised next day delivery which didn't arrive but I wasn't overly fussed, delays happen. After four days though I gave them a ring and they apologised saying I should have been emailed, but there was a holdup.

Said holdup was that the documents for the watch had been misplaced, and new ones were on the way. They said I can wait or they'll send me the watch and send the docs later. No docs as of yet, and since I'm relatively new to this whole scene, I'm wondering if its actually possible for new docs to be provided by the manufacturer?

I'm guessing the watch was actually ex display or something, which would explain the loss. I'm also not bothered too much, since it's still a relatively cheap watch and it's definitely a keeper, but it's nice to know I have something in the unlikely event that it does go wrong.

Obviously first port of call is to phone the dealer, which I will of course do, but I'd like to know a bit more about the way these things work before I make that call.

Worth noting that their manner on the phone has been friendly and professional, they're fairly well regarded and since I'm not some kind of smoothbrained nutcase I won't be phoning up screaming about speaking to the manager.

Any info welcome, thanks in advance smile

The process for obtaining "papers" for a watch differs between manufacturers. Patek for example can provide an archive for the watch, Rolex on the other hand wont provide documentation but if you send the watch to the for servicing you'll recieve paperwork that will confirm authenticity. From a cursory google it would seem Ball fall into the latter camp so unsure how a replacement warranty card will be obtained.
