I don’t think he should bung the whole watch in one of those but it might be an option if he is able to pop the bezel off.

OP, I think the general rule is to start as mild as possible with something like that.

I would go with Q-tips with a weak dishwashing solution.

If that doesn’t work rub a bit harder.

Then a stronger APC solution.

If you’re feeling brave then maybe a weak bleach solution next?
