Tag Heuer want £550 for a full (M2) service and repair of my Carrera Calibre 36. The Flyback Chronograph has ceased to function.

Are there any independent repair companies I should try? I'd rather support an indy and maybe even save some cash. My local indy in Glasgow said it's too complex a movement for them.

Cheers.

I doubt you'll find one, and for a nice watch it's probably not worth the risk just to save a few quid.

I had TAG service and repair my Aquaracer 6 years ago (cost me £700) and then service it again last year (£400 or so)
Both times the watch was returned in A1 condition.

Thanks, that's reassuring that you've had a good result on both occasions. And, yes, you're probably correct that for the sake of saving £200+/- be as well to just use Tag.

I'm looking into this at the moment, sounds like you were pleased with the process. How long did it take then to carry out the service?

Most recent service was 8 weeks from paying to getting the watch back (they send you a box to put the watch in, you then send it to them)

First time was longer than this as I needed a repair to the bracelet also

The Calibre 36 is the Zenith El Primero movement so service might be tricky if parts are needed.

I recently used "Tag Watch Repairs" based in Lancashire. They were ok for me - may be worth checking out?

I saw on the Tag repair pricelist that they charge £100 premium for this movement so hopefully they'll have them.
