Stolen watch?

I bought a used Omega Speedmaster Pro (Moonwatch) in 1999 from a dealer in Chiswick, the watch was C1997 (Purchased new in New York) as stated on the International Warrantee along with the serial number. I had it serviced (via AD in Southampton) in 1999 by Omega and again in 2002 (kept stopping) I believe it went to their Quality Control dept. I have all the paperwork to prove.
A few weeks ago when winding the watch I felt a small "give" and it only runs for a couple of hours (main spring??), I took it to my now local AD (Bath) and they sent it to Omega for repair. I had a phone call on Thursday from the AD, Omega refuse to repair as it doesn't have a serial number! I've never really looked for one (its never really crossed my mind) and come to that I've not looked for one on my Rolex (although I bought that new).
Question is really, where does this leave me? I've supplied all the previous service paperwork to the AD but not sure what that will prove. If it is stolen the rightful owner could never be traced and I have an expensive paperweight (assuming they give me it back).

Serial numbers are usually on the case once the bracelet has been taken off.

I recommend watchguy.co.ukfor servicing.

Removed serial number is way more likely to have been done by a grey market seller back in the day, rather than it was stolen. You'll get it back, then get it serviced by taking it to someone other than an AD.

I thought \I would post an update to this thread, my local jewellers (small independent) have a chap (ex Omega) who services watches for them. Mine was sent to him and I have just had a text to say the parts required can only be obtained from Omega so he cant carryout the repair.

Need some guidance where I go from here..

Why does he need the serial number to get the parts? And if that really is the case, can't they use the serial number from another watch?

Take the bracelet off and see if you can find the serial number.

I don't think he'll find one there. My speedy racing has the serial number on the movement and on the case.

Ah I thought the speedmaster had them on the back of the case partially covered by the bracelet.

If I was the OP I'd be talking to Omega UK, send them a long email with all the details in , including any pictures of documents you have see what they say.

Or potentially get the tools to remove the case back yourself and see what you can see in there, see if any numbers you have match the documentation.

The age of my speedy indicated that the serial number should be on the lug (7 o'clock position). There is no serial number, it has been to Omega via my AD and Omega have said they will not service it as it has no serial number although they have serviced it twice in my ownership.
I think the response from my local jewellers chap is an excuse not to do it (Omega parts are freely available even on EBay). I've emailed a couple of online watch repair places and they have said no issue with parts or servicing.

Have you got the warranty card for it? That’ll have it on, so the Indy can order parts with that.

Perhaps worth asking Reece here: https://www.fixwatch.co.uk/

Welcome to tell him Dom said to contact, or not, as you like. Good pricing, good quality work, etc.

I have no affiliation other than he 'looks after' all my watches, with no issues.

Confirmation from the chap that Dom recommended for servicing the serial number has been drilled out (main spring was broken)
