Watch / Clock servicing and repairs
Discussion
Is there a list of any reputable companies or can anyone recommend companies which can repair a mechanical watches (1940s - 2000s) and items like carriage clocks and long case clocks?
The watches are Avia, JW Benson and Zepter. The clocks are quite a bit older.
Based in the South East / Thames valley and I'd rather see a person than stick something in the post.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I've taken my mechanical watch to The Watch Box in Bushey, Hertfordshire.
Despite the name they actually specialise in mending clocks.
No social media presence but they are in the yellow pages: https://www.yell.com/biz/the-watch-box-watford-444...

Discovered a vintage Omega Seamaster in a drawer the other day. It's not working, in fact the crown has dropped out. Is it worth getting these serviced at a specialist? The rates they are quoting seem a bit tasty
Find a tame watchmaker working from home who does it as a hobby, an Omega specialist would probably charge more than its worth.I recently had my 1962 Seamaster stripped, cleaned, reassembled, the dial cleaned, new crystal and new chapter ring by such a guy who charged me £80. Time served watchmaker but doing it purely as a paid hobby now. There are a few around, I know 2 in fact.
